If you plan to travel by bus in Venezuela, here's a tip: be sure to have warm
clothing with you. If you board the bus dressed the way you're
likely dressed while you're waiting for the bus, you'll freeze on board.
Buses in Venezuela are VERY cold - sweaters, jackets, and
even blankets are recommended.
The place to see Venezuelan wildlife is Los Llanos. Tours can be arranged
from every major city in Venezuela. I arranged mine through
Gravity Tours in
Merida. For about $100, you'll get transportation to Los Llanos and all meals
along with crude
accomodations for three nights - usually a hut with hammocks. From Merida, Los Llanos is
about a 10 hour drive. Be sure to pack insect repellant and plenty of
sunscreen.
Venezuela is one of the premier world destinations for bird watching and Los
Llanos is the place if you're interested. In addition to birds, visitors
are likely to see caiman, iguanas, anteaters, anaconda, piranha, pink dolphins,
mata mata turtles, and monkeys.
I hope you enjoy my photos of Venezuelan wildlife.
